TODAY's first & last word on Mr Brown's Case.

It's surreal ... The way this article on Mr Brown's saga appears one week late in TODAY, recites the facts in highly condensed fashion and diligently avoids any semblance of an opinion ... as if the TODAY editors themselves were not at the very heart of the story.

If I didn't tell you that this is a TODAY article, you might have thought that it was from some other newspaper that was clueless in its reporting, unable to uncover any real facts and just cutting and pasting from already-existing reports about ex-TODAY columnist Mr Brown.

This is the nation-building press that Ms K Bhavani wants you to trust. The same press that Ms Bhavani says is supposed to provide "opinions with higher standards" and "constructive criticism".

We're in the Matrix. Any moment now, Lee Kuan Yew will materialise out of thin air and accuse Mr Brown of being a member of the bak-chor-mee-loving radical English-educated young.

Run fast, Mr Brown, run, head for the nearest telephone.

Ha ha ha, LKY cannot be an agents la - should be one of the ISD lackeys appearing from nowhere.

To put this in proper 'context':

1. mrbrown = Neo
2. miyagi = Trinity
3. Mr Wang = Morpheus
4. Bhavani = Agent Smith
5. GCT = The Architect
6. LKY = Deus Ex Machina
7. Oracle = We need one right now!

Mr Wang,

title wrong liao!

Today has no words. The first and last word are not exactly theirs leh ...

Actually, I am curious why there are life forms in Singapore who want to be journalists ... besides the pay, what job satisfaction is there to be a "cut-and-paste" artiste or an expansive tape recorder cum printer?

Hi! Im trying to build a database with different products and what they cost in different countrys! Could you please help me out! Just add a product or two and tell your friends to do the same and this could become something really cool!

Mr Brown and the bloggers are the disease, a cancer to Singapore. And we, the PAP, are the cure!

Hee. Don't forget, they hid it in the pdf file, which is less easy to cut and paste. It's not available in the online txt version.

Mr Wang as Morpheus? I rather like the idea of Bhavani as Bane, rather. Agent Smith's too powerful.

Read this article in the Voices section in TODAY on July 13 - "Don't gripe, do the math" (http://www.todayonline.com/articles/130247.asp). Objective comment or deliberate attack on mr. brown? Rational reader or ardent PAP supporter?

Aha ... the PAP smear is an important test to detect early stage cervical cencer. It is not yet the cure, get it?

I noticed they still use the term "suspended", like as though they still thing his column will ever be continued. How delightfully euphemistic.

The other thing is that LKY used to be a member of that English-educated youth himself, London Boy.

The author who wrote "Don't gripe, do the math" would have been happy to march into the gas chambers, humming "we are the creators of our own grievances".

If I remember correctly , the reporter who wrote this article is the same person who wrote in TODAY on 11 May 06 on the topic 'From overseas, an even stronger mandate arrives' reporting the results on Singaporeans who voted from overseas (sorry... old newspaper already sold to gurang guni man to earn some extra pocket money) Can anyone help to confirm?

It's amazing how TODAY can quote Lee Boon Yang as saying that the govt is merely exercising its right of reply, but make no mention that TODAY itself totally denied mr brown his right of reply.

The author who wrote "Don't gripe, do your math" probably lived on chicken rice only.

20 cent increase is quite hefty, no? if it was a $2.50 plate of rice, that means 8%?

If everything also follows, in econs they call this multiplier effect?!, I would wish that my pay increment is also 8% too.

Unfortunately, it was not.

I foresee many smiling frogs being boiled over the years.

The Matrix analogy is so appropriate.

Morpheus said: That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else you were born into bondage. Into a prison that you cannot taste or see or touch. A prison for your mind.

... yea, we are in a prison for our minds...most of us are at least
